Final Showdowns

Hello my Ravens. In this video I talk about something that irks me in many books. It's the lack of a big fight at the end. Now it doesn't ruin a book for me, but there are many cases in which I hated a bad guy and wanted to see him get the crap kicked out of him or something along those lines, but then they just get blown up or something. Anyway, this is my opinion and I hope you enjoy the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTHTzh8oUms

Christmas is coming!

A few days ago I posted my Christmas promotion video that Buster did. This is THIS year's version that I decided to handle myself. At the end of the video I'm surprised by a guest visitor. Everyone wants to be on the internet! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGvCBhzmkpw&feature=youtu.be

Batman vs Superman

Hello my Ravens. No, this is not going to be about the upcoming movie in which admittedly I know very little about and no, this isn't about who would win in a fight. I just got through watching the original Tim Burton Batman film, which I believe is a masterpiece. The next book I will have coming out next year is my stab at creating a Superhero and that makes watching Superhero movies all the more special. I believe there are mainly two types of people. There are Batman people and there are Superman people. I'm far from an expert on either, but I know a lot more of the Batman lore. As I said in an earlier entry, I had never really read any comics until i began reading the Fables series earlier this year, so there is a ton I don't know about. What i do know is from various TV shows, cartoons, movies and videogames. I have always been a Batman person, but I had a friend in School that was die hard Superman. Don't get me wrong, Superman is an incredible character and a le

Wordy dirties

Hello my Ravens and welcome to the first post of December. In the past I did some videos in which I told everyone somewhat about my writing style and how I personally preferred to handle certain situations in writing. In this one in particular I told my feeling on bad language in books and how I think it should be handled. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuKfDBtY8Fs

Buster's book reviews volume 4

Hello my Ravens. i have a couple of videos planned I just haven't got around to doing them. Either it's been getting dark by the time I have a chance or like today it's raining cats and dogs. I could do them in my room, but I think the ones I do outside are better than the ones where I'm all cramped up in here. In the meantime here is another episode of Buster's book reviews. He'll be talking about a talented Indie author named Ellen Maze who happens to be my editor. Enjoy guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aattmHlcBSM

Keep me writing

Hello my Ravens. Extra money has been hard to come by lately to fund my books, so I finally started a Go Fund me account. Anything is appreciated and I will leave the link below. There is plenty of spookiness still to come from me, if I can just get the money to put it out there! https://www.gofundme.com/vk8749c4

Buster's Book Reviews Volume 3

Hello my Ravens. I haven't done a lot of videos recently and I don't know if I'll be doing a Halloween themed video, but just in case I don't I happen to have a video I did last year of Buster's book reviews. It was around Halloween time and he reviewed "The Dark Half" by Stephen King. I hope you enjoy it and have a fun Halloween. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgZLEG6WfqY

I might have been a TAD disturbing in this video, but hey, a horror writer has to do horror........and insanity.......and creepy...........and promotion..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSbbb73vkoU

Horror Sequels

Now I will start this by saying as I have before that this is merely my opinion and is in no way stated as fact, except in my mind. When it comes to most movies, people will say "The original was a lot better." This is especially true for Horror movies since they tend to have a minimum of two or three sequels and in many cases a lot more. I just got through watching Candy man 2: Farewell to flesh and I enjoyed it. Then I went to look at what Wikipedia had to say about the series and learned that many thought the sequel was decent, but kind of sluggish. The comments about Candy Man 3: Day of the dead caught my attention as on 13% of people had a favorable review of it. Now, I watched it before this one and I thought it was a decent movie. I have come to the conclusion that either I just find something to appreciate in anything Horror or my taste in movies sucks. (Perhaps a combination of the two.) But, getting back to my original point, the further you go up into a Horror movi

My Top Ten favorite Mortal Kombat Characters.

Recently I have been playing a pretend Mortal Kombat tournament with my friends on Facebook and it has inspired this entry. Now before you start cussing me and telling me I have no clue what I'm talking about, note that this is just my favorites and I am in no way saying these are the ten bests. I'll also warn you ahead of time that none of the three stars (At least from the movie stand point are on it.) Sonya is okay, but I just never really cared much for her, Johnny Cage would be my favorite of the three as the cocky smart alec and Liu Kang even though he is supposed to be the master of the game is one of my LEAST favorites. He has just always been so vanilla to me with no flash and yes I know he can turn into a dragon. On to the list! 10- Kenshi: I mainly mean the version from the newest entry, Mortal Kombat X. He isn't quite as serious as his past versions and going by his dialogue he's kind of light hearted and I love his possessed style. Plus both of his new fa

Hello my Ravens. As a writer I am obviously also a reader even if it sometimes takes three months for me to read a book with my attention span. This is a video of some of my favorite books. Hope you enjoy it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Fa9sW26qWk

Why did I become a writer?

Hello my Ravens. I realize I have not been very active lately and  now consider anyone who blogs daily to be a superhero. But, I thought i would share another one of my videos and it answers a question I get asked a lot or at least different versions of it. When did I start writing? How long have I been writing? Why did I start writing? All of those questions are answered right here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SDGmWL18Jk

Baltimore Ravens week 1

Well my Ravens, time to talk about your name sake. I hated seeing the Broncos as our week 1 opponents, because since I began watching the Ravens in 2006 I have only watched the Ravens beat him once and that was the mile high miracle that lead to our Superbowl 47 victory. The bad news. We lost, which always stinks. The good news? Our defense looked incredible. (Note: Terrell Suggs suffered an Achilles injury and is out for the season.)Any time you keep Peyton Manning out of the end zone all game, you have done something! The offense was very anemic in the first half of the game, but picked up some in the second half. Unfortunately it was two key interceptions thrown by Joe Flacco that swung the game into the Broncos favor. One was a pick 6 and the other was in the end zone at the very end. But, I still love my QB and will wear his Jersey with pride. I guess the bright side was that we were in it until the very end and that being without our speedy rookie Breshawn Perriman. Offense needs

Jamie Conrad sat next to his bed hung-over. Outside the rain bounced off of his tin roof. He reeked of alcohol and would need a thorough shower before leaving the house. His heart pounded inside of his head and each drop of rain sounded like an amplified drumbeat. He had to get the horrible morning taste out of his mouth or he would soon vomit. James hadn't always been such a heavy drinker, but since the writer's block began, it had become a regular thing. A fairly successful author, his first two books had hit the top five on the on the New York Times best seller list. After his third novel, his ideas had just dried up, like someone turning off a faucet. What began as a minor annoyance soon evolved into full-blown stress. That was when he began to see the skeleton man. Now, here he sat in his own filth, feeling like he was losing his mind. James walked into the bathroom, and after relieving himself, took a long look into the mirror. Huge bags rimmed bloodshot eyes. His

A good year for videogames

2015 has been a great year for videogames. every time I think I have found my nominee for game of the year I find something else! Of course there may be more popular and worthy titles as these are just my opinions. First there was Mortal Kombat X in which I played to death. It gave us a great story, a great collection of Classic and new characters, the tower mode is a way to endlessly challenge yourself and everyone across the globe for the highest score and the incredible DLC of Jason Voorhees and The Predator! Throw in the ton of costumes, Tanya and Tremor and you have hours and hours of fun. I recently got a hold of a copy of Dragon age Inquisition and it is hands down better than the first two put together. There are seemingly endless side missions to go along with the main story. You have great new allies including some returning from the first two games and multiple romance paths you can take to make things even more interesting. I recently beat the game, but I now have both of

Jason Voorhees vs Michael Meyers

We got to see Freddy vs Jason and it was an epic battle. If you belong to any Horror group on Facebook or where ever, every so often the question comes up "Who would win? Jason or Michael?" and every single time it is going to be split almost dead even at 50/50 across the board between the Jason faithful and the Michael faithful. It's times like this that I wish one of my all time favorite shows "Deadliest Warrior"  was still on the air. Seeing as how two different companies own Jason and Michael, this is a battle that will likely never happen on screen and will be left to our imaginations. Jason has starred in 9 films (Excluding the remake, part 5 in which it was an impostor and the original F13 in which it was his Mother) Michael has starred in 7 films (Excluding the remakes and Halloween part 3 in which he did not appear.) I for one would be on team Jason, though I'm not going to go into any details on why I think he would be the winner. If you had to cho

The headache of marketing

Image
Hello my Ravens. I love being an indie writer, but it comes with it's headaches. Marketing is the hardest part of this career. You have to be creative and incredibly patient to try and get your name out there. Some nights I feel like beating my head into a wall, because I feel like I've done everything humanly possible. I have this blog,my youtube channel, my Amazon and Facebook Author's pages, and Twitter among other things. Another thing I do is generate marketing memes that a lot of people seem to get a kick out of. Here are some samples.

Life is funny sometimes. I've done a lot of videos on my youtube channel, from marketing to comedy book reviews. I have a couple of videos that have gotten one to two hundred views, but wouldn't you know it, i do a video as a joke for a friend's wedding and it ends up being my most popular video with over 700 views. New Projects

Hello my Ravens. I realize I haven't been too active lately, but I haven't really had too much going on. However, a few days ago I completed a new project called "Blood in the Snow." It is my first try at a Detective Crime mystery. I have now started a new Horror project entitled "Reflect" There isn't too much more to tell except that you can still get all three of my current books on Amazon, Nook, and Kindle. So, whatever you're reading whether it is one of my books or not, I hope it brings you the enjoyment books bring to me.

The Baltimore Ravens

Are you starting to feel it? That tingling in the air? That's right, football season will be here before you know it! I got into football later in my life and I have been a Ravens fan since 2005. There were many hard times and disappointments until I had the incredible pleasure of seeing them win Superbowl 47 when it was Brother vs Brother on the coaching side of things. However things have been far from easy since that moment. Many of the players did not come back and they didn't get to play their opening game at home. The year after the SB win they broke even with an 8 and 8 record. It should be noted that the Ravens have not had a losing season under Coach john Harbaugh. The next year we bounced back to a 10 and 6 record getting back to the playoffs. In the season tie breaker we beat the Steelers in the opening round. Next was a a hard fought game in which we led the patriots by 14 twice, but they fought back and got us. this year I may not recognize my team since many big n

Danny Miller drove aimlessly down the dark road squinting through each swipe of the wiper blades. About 15 miles back, the rain began in sprinkles and the transformed into a full-out monsoon. This was a recipe for disaster considering he had not slept in close to forty-eight hours. Luckily he had seen little traffic on this highway thus far. And at least he had quit drinking. Eight months ago, Danny was an average American. He worked nine to five in a factory driving a forklift. It was a nonstop routine, but he was a creature of habit anyway. Plus he made decent money. He had been married three years to a young waitress he met at a diner he had lunch at every day. One day he had walked in and she said "Let me guess. a BLT and a side of fries?" "Am I that predictable?" He had replied. "Yes, you're here every day sweetie. Either you really love the food or you're sweet on me." "Can't it be both?" He asked After that, they

RPG games part 2

Earlier this week I talked about the Final Fantasy series of RPG games. Today I'm going to talk about some other great games that I like. First we will start with the Suikoden series. I played all of these, at least once, but the first two I played to death! Normally in RPGs you get five or six different characters to play as. This series was groundbreaking since you got nearly a hundred to choose from? If you haven't played them, you may wonder how that is possible. Without going into detail you at some point in the story become leader of an army and get your own base that grows the more people you recruit. Usually throughout the game you can pick and choose almost anyone (Or in some cases an animal) to fight along side of you in a part of six.Next up we have Super Mario RPG. It has been ages since I played this classic SNES classic, but I loved it. It was a great story filled with some great characters and allowed you to play as the classics Mario, Peach, and even Bowser! (Po

RPG games

Hello my Ravens. Today I'm going to talk about RPG games. You probably already knew that since it is the title of this post. :) Anyway, the first RPG game I ever played was Final Fantasy 2 (At least in america on SNES that is what it was.) I fell in love. You keep meeting interesting people to put in your party and fight endless enemies and bosses. I rented the game and kept it so long it would have been cheaper to buy it! After that I played Final fantasy 3 and I knew this was an incredible series. Then came the next gen with Final fantasy 7 and I admit I even stayed home from school once JUST to keep playing it. incredible game and most people's favorite in the series. Part 8 was decent, but had in my opinion a confusing storyline and the characters were somewhat bland. Then came part 9. Now, while 7 is the majority favorite THIS is mine. I loved the character and the story in this. One of the reasons people liked 7 so much was that it brought a more modern day feeling with a

My favorite movies

I don't have anything groundbreaking this time, but this is another one of my videos and this particular one was a pain in the neck to get done! I know I did a post on my favorite horror movies, but this is a list of my favorite movies in general. You may also notice that even though they aren't all "Horror" necessarily, they do fall into the creepy category. Big surprise huh? :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYsEn04Lrr8

Fables

Anybody out there a fan of the Fables comics? I just got volume 8 in the mail today. I had never even heard of them until I played the game "The wolf Among us." I thought the game was incredibly cool and I had to force myself to only play one episode a day. After I beat it twice I bought volume 1 of Fables and fell in love. I think they are some of the most brilliant and creative stories I have ever read. How can you not like Bigby Wolf, Snow White and tons of other colorful characters. The odd thing is that  was never into comic books growing up, I had read maybe two in my life. But I am definitely a fan of this series and glad I discovered them.

My Horror

Hello my Ravens. Today I don't just want to talk about Horror, but MY Horror. I can't tell you how many times people have looked at my book covers and said "Brrr, Horror, I don't think that's for me." People tend to forget that Horror has many categories, but most people think it is only blood and guts just for the heck of it. You have Slasher Films like Friday the 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street and Halloween. You have paranormal Horror films like Insidious, Deliver us from evil and The Rite and sometimes it can be Suspense with a paranormal twist. I believe I said in another post that I am a sucker for happy endings, which is why I wasn't crazy about Sinister. In my Horror, good is usually going to overcome evil. Many may think that my books are only full of gore and terror. Though, some of them may contain this, that isn't the only thing it contains. Yes, there is bloodshed, yes there are horrible creatures and images, yes there is death. However I

My taste in music

Hello my Ravens, today........this morning rather I'm going to talk about music. Being raised a Southern Baptist I've listened to Southern Gospel all of my life and I love it. I never really got too much into Contemporary, but I appreciate it and anyone who does listen to it. Besides that this is one of my quirks, I rarely ever get into a particular group or Artist, though in HighSchool I went through a big Toby Keith phase and I still like him of course. But, I have always gone more by favorite songs than who sings them. Example: I love the song Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin, however I could not tell you another song they sing if my life depended on it. Other songs I've always loved are Eye of the Tiger by Survivor, Never gonna give you up by Rick Astley, Texas Tornado by Tracy Lawrence, Ships that don't come in by Joe Diffie among others. But I have to say that my all time favorite song, that one that I can listen to a thousand times in a row and still head bang

The River Of Slime

A lot has been going on in the country the last couple of weeks and it has brought out the worst in people. Nobody's opinion is respected by anyone else. All of this reminds me of the plot to GhostBusters 2. For those of you who don't remember or have never seen it, there was an evil guy from the past called Vigo the Carpathian and he haunted a painting in the museum. The GhostBusters then discovered a River of Slime under the city. The slime was the incarnation of all of the hatred and bad feelings of everyone in NewYork. I began thinking, even if it is just a movie, if there was that much hatred and bitterness in just one city in the 80s, then how much would there be under the whole country over 25 years later? The GhostBusters used the one symbol that brought everyone together to bash through the wall of hatred the slime created. It was the Statue of Liberty. Would even Lady Liberty work today? Could we all overcome the hatred and send Vigo packing.....or would we be doomed

Rain

Does anyone else just absolutely LOVE rain? It's magical to me. It's always know to be connected with sadness and depression, yet it has the opposite effect on me. If I'm mad or sad or  whatever, a hard rain always makes me smile. It is so comforting and relaxing. It helps me sleep (Not that I need  much help) it calms me. It's just like God is cleansing the world with drops of water falling from the sky. Any of you the same way, or am I just a weirdo? Actually I know I'm a weirdo for many other reasons, but I thought I would share this. :) I've always wanted to write something paranormal revolving around rain, but have been unable to, up to this point. I'm sure inspiration will hit at some point.

Sample from "The Preacher"

The thick, musty air tickled Jacob Cross's nose as he walked slowly down the old dirt road. Whereever he was, he was fairly certain it had recently rained. Where was he? Was he really in this place? Was he dreaming? At one point he was absolutely sure he was dreaming, but then that eerie feeling you might very well be awake kicked in. Everything in sight emanated an odd glow. His senses had heightened dramatically and he could actually see the aura of every tree, leaf, and rock in his vicinity. The trees on either side of the road did not branch off into a forest.; rather they grew close together. So close that you could not fit a piece of paper between their trunks. Their configuration formed an endless wall that threatened to trap Jacob on his current path with nowhere to run. The only place he could possibly go was forward. Being only twenty-three, Jacob was very young to be the pastor of a small hamlet and overall. it was a difficult situation. Even though he preached to a

Buster's book reviews

Good Afternoon my Ravens. Last night I told you about a lot of my favorite books, but I didn't go into too much detail. Luckily my number 1 fan Buster has his own book review videos. My favorite books.

Good evening my Ravens. Tonight I'm going to tell you about some of my favorite books I have read. Admittedly I have a very short list of writers I read, but they are some of the best! I've read Dean Koontz and Stephen King longer than anyone, but I am also a big fan of Tami Hoag and some Nora Roberts. The first book on my list is "Bag Of Bones" by Stephen King. I guess I may relate to it more, because the main character is a writer, but I think the story was brilliant and had just the right amount of romance. Another plus is that you got a true happy ending which is sometimes rare in King books. Next up we have "Life Expectancy" by Dean Koontz. This is one of the most creative storylines I've ever read and I knew I would love it just by reading the cover. (Not going to go into plots or details as this post would end up being a Novelette!) This was another book that had a perfect ending. As you have learned by now, even though I love horror, I'm a s

Horror Videogames

Good afternoon my Ravens. Last night I talked about my favorite movies. Now I'm going to talk about my favorite Horror Videogames. I've always felt that Silent Hill and Resident Evil are the juggernauts of this category, each spawning a ton of sequels and prequels. I did a video in which I compared the two, but I will save that for another day. The First Silent Hill will always be my all time favorite horror game, because it truly scared me, plus three times I have bought a new system just to play a Silent Hill game. Joke was on me this time since Silent Hills was cancelled..... Anyway Silent Hill 2 is usually the favorite of fans of the series, but my heart still belongs to the original. Silent Hill Homecoming is probably my second favorite game. I played it to death and got 100% on the accomplishments. Some did not like this addition to the series, feeling like it just wasn't Silent Hill, but I loved the atmosphere and the story. Next up on my list is Resident evil 2. Thi
Okay, this is a late.....or early post, depending on how you look at it. I've talked enough about my work, So I'm going to spend a couple of posts talking about non-job related stuff and hopefully you can get involved as well. As you have most likely figured out by now, I love anything Horror related. I've loved spooky stuff since I was a little kid. The first real Horror movie I ever saw was Halloween 4 when My Step Father rented it. Needless to say when Michael Myers sat up beside the bed and lightning revealed that mask, I was freaked completely out, but I learned to love it! Probably my favorite Horror movie is Friday the 13th part 7. Kind of random right? The reason being I loved the character of Tina played by Lar Park Lincoln and this was the first time Kane Hodder played the part of Jason. It also had one of Jason's most popular kills, the sleeping bag kill. I've seen it well over twenty times at least. Some other Horror movies that are my favorites are Sile

Hello My Ravens. Today I'm going to share one of my many book  reviews. this is one I am particularly proud of and it is for Accents Of Horror. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Like Watching the Twilight Zone in well-chosen words! Can one sentence turn into an entire tale?  Chris Snider asks and answers his own questions in his short story collection of  horror and darkness, Accents of Horror: Four Flavors of Death sounds like a trip to an ice cream shop, if that shop sold horrific flavors. A man running from his nightmares picks up a lone hitchhiker on a dark and stormy night…will he learn that no good deed goes unpunished or will he find forgiveness from a stranger? Do spirits linger in a plane of existence until they take care of earthly business? Do they rely on chosen humans to reveal themselves in hopes  of being understo
Hello my Ravens. Some of you may not be aware of it, but I have Asperger's Syndrome. This can make me seem odd at times, but who doesn't have their quirks? I'm not going to go into details about what AS is, but I will say that I believe it is one of the key reasons I am a writer. I have had an incredibly vivid imagination as long as I can remember. Putting this together with certain factors that happened in highschool, it took me to where I am today. A kind of double edge sword is that it makes me incredibly focused on things that interest me, sometimes too much so. But, this really helps motivate me when I am marketing, because I want nothing more than to be a best selling author one day. I'm going to leave a link for a playlist from my youtube channel of videos I have done on Asperger's syndrome. That will do it for this post and I hope to see you again. Happy Reading! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfMwLJvqYSAfQ3Y5mi4e6gEC0a5UlpyMd

The Bone Spirit

Greeting my Ravens. Today I'm going to tell you about my 3rd book that was released late 2014 and it is called The Bone Spirit. It follows the story of James Conrad, the best selling author of three books. During the writing of his third book James's life took a downward spiral. The pressure of writing it caused him to begin drinking more and more, forcing his wife Casey to leave him. Now that he is trying to write his fourth novel, he has complete writer's block. this is the least of his problems since he is also seeing a man made of only bones that whispers into his mind. One night the voice almost convinces James to slit his wrists and in a panicked state he calls Casey. Now it is up to the two of them to go on a journey to determine what The Bone Spirit is and HOW they can stop him. I would categorize this as a Horror/Suspense with a touch of Romance. It is available on Amazon, or on Nook and Kindle for $2.99. That's it for today's post and as I always say &qu

Good afternoon my Ravens. Today I'm going to tell you a little about my second book, which was published in late 2013. It contains four short stories. Three are by me and one is by my editor, the very talented Ellen Maze. It is called Accents of Horror: Four Flavors of Death. What would you do if you saw a hitchhiker on the side of the road on a dark and rainy night? What would you do if you saw headlights coming over a hill and they disappeared with nowhere to go? What would you do if the Grim reaper showed up at your door in the middle of dinner? What if you were an out of work actor and the man who stole your job sat down next to you in a diner? All of these ominous question will be answered in Accents of Horror: Four Flavors of Death. If you're a fan of The Twilight Zone or Tales from the crypt, you should enjoy this book. It has been compared to these by multiple reviewers. You can get the paperback or have it on Nook or Kindle for just 99 cents. That will do i

Good afternoon my Ravens. Today's post is about my first book "The Preacher." Published in May of 2013 it follows the Story of Jacob Cross, a Preacher in a future dark age. After seeing a disturbing image in his sleep Jacob's village is slaughtered by demons and he is all but left for dead. It is then that an Angel comes to him and tells him that he has been chosen by God to rid the world of this menace. However, he will not have to do it alone. He will find three warriors, each in a different place to help him on his way. If you are a fan of Fantasy, Horror, Christian Literature, or all three, then this is the book for you.You can find it on Amazon.com, Books-a-Million.com, Barnes and Noble.com, and of course it is on Nook and Kindle for the low price of $2.99. I hope everyone will check it out. Until next time, HAPPY READING!

Greetings to my hopefully future followers! It was suggested to me that a blog would be a great way to help get my name out there. In the future I hope to post my writing news, previews of books I already have released and other things concerning my career. Be patient with me, the blog stuff is very new to me and it may take a couple of days to catch on! Happy reading to all.
